“BJP government will investigate corruption in river front project and cause of accident that claimed life of engineer Devendra Arya: PM Modi

The , on Tuesday, said that if BJP comes in power, it will investigate the corruption in the Chambal river front project. The BJP government will also investigate the reason behind accident that claimed lives of an engineer and his associate with pulling out the world's largest bell from the mould box.

“We will try to give justice to the families of engineer and his associate who lost their lives. Everyone knows how put pressure on people to forcefully install the bell. People are openly accusing Gehlot government for putting pressure to install bell on the day of polling (November 25). We will not only investigate the case but also ensure justice to all,” he said.

What happened while pulling out the bell from cast mould?

Two days back, engineer Devendra Arya – the creator of the world's largest bell – along his associate Chhotu died when he fell from 35 feet while pulling out the bell from the cast mould. The bell was to be installed at the newly created Chambal river front in Kota.

Son accuses Dhariwal for Arya's death

Dhananjay Arya, son of the deceased engineer Devendra Arya alleged that of his father is due to undue pressure from UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal to install the bell before the elections.

“He (Dhariwal) was after my father to install the bell before election so that he can take the advantage of this in elections. It was the pressure that took my father's life. My father always used to say that if He was not able to complete the work as desired by Dhariwal, something bad will happen,” he alleged.

BJP leader contesting against Shanti Dhariwal from Kota (North) Prahlad Gunjal said that an should be filed against officials of Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) Kota, which has contracted this work to Arya.

Dhariwal denies charges

UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal denied charges levelled by Arya's son.

“All the allegations are baseless. The model code of conduct is in force. The work is being undertaken by UIT. Where am I in the picture?” he asked.

On the other hand, UIT secretary Man Singh said that there was not any pressure on anyone to expedite the installation of bell.
“We had contracted the work to the main contractor, who had given Arya the work.

What is special about the bell?

The bell is the world's largest single cast bell. It is made up of 13 different metals including copper, aluminium and nickel. The weight of the bell is 79,000 kg and the cost of making is Rs 19 crore.

The sound of this bell is audible till 8 kms. The radius of this bell is 8.5 metre and the length is 9.25 metres.
