More than 20 bureaucrats vied for career in politics, only two made debut, Meena from BJP, Arya from Congress

In this election, many hopefuls from bureaucratic world joined BJP and Congress after retirement or for that matter took voluntary retirement for taking a plunge in electoral politics. But the parties obliged only two. BJP gave ticket to retired IAS Chandra Mohan Meena from Bassi while Congress gave chance to former chief Niranjan Arya from Sojat.

Other retired IPS officers who are in fray – Laxman Meena and Harish Meena – were already sitting . They are not new entrant to the politics. Similarly, Om Prakash Hudla, former IRS officer and sitting MLA from Mahuwa, is now contesting on Congress ticket.

Ahead of elections, many former IAS and IPS officers join BJP but the party didn't oblige them this time.

Retired officers who joined BJP included former divisional commissioner and Hanuman Singh Bhati, former IAS and national president of Raigar Mahasabha Bhanwar Lal Nawal, ex-IAS Kailash Chand Verma, IAS Nannu Mal Pahadiya, former IAS Dr Satyapal Singh, former IAS Manoj Sharma and retired chief Income Tax commissioner K R Meghwal also joined the party.

Apart from that Antar Singh Nehra, former divisional commissioner of Jaipur Antar Singh Nehra also joined BJP by taking voluntary retirement.

Among former IPS officers, Sawai Singh Choudhary, retired IPS Mahesh Bhardwaj joined BJP among few others to contest election. But BJP didn't repose trust in them.

Similarly, former IPS Hari Prasad Sharma, who resigned from the post of chairman Rajasthan Staff Selection Board also lobbied for ticket from Congress but the party denied him the ticket.
