Shahpura likely to wrangle in a triangular fight

An interesting electoral battle is brewing in Shahpura. Both Congress and have fielded Yadav candidates Both are young and are banking heavily on youth votes.

Congress has repeated its youth candidate Manish Yadav who had lost to independent Alok Beniwal n 2018 elections. BJP has fielded another young candidate Upen Yadav, who has been fighting for the cause of unemployed young and has a following of around one million in twitter.

Hari Prasad Baliwal, a rebel BJP candidate makes it a triangular contest. While Yadav votes are bound to be distributed between the two Yadavs, Jat votes are likely to be consolidated in favour of Baliwal, who may have an edge in the contest.

Baliwal puts across agenda strongly before the voters. He has been involves in several social works including organising pooja and jagran. He is also involved in Gau seva.

BJP candidate Upen Yadav is banking on votes of unemployed youth. He has been fighting for their cause for more than a decade. BJP is likely to raise issues unemployment and paper leak through Upen Yadav.

The Congress candidate Manish Yadav is betting big on the welfare schemes . He believes that people will vote for all the good Gehlot government has done for the public.

What happened in 2018 elections

In 2018, BJP had fielded Rao Rajendra Singh who belongs to the erstwhile royal family of Shahpura. Congress has fielded Manish Yadav, who is being repeated this time also. Alok Beniwal, son of former Governor Kamla had contested elections as an independent candidate and was the winner. He defeated Manish Yadav by around 4,000 votes while Rap Rajendra Singh Rathore ended up at third place.
