NEWS OF THE DAY THEBUCKSTOPPER

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had to go empty handed after it could not find any substantial proof from the lockers located in the basement of Ganpati Plaza commercial complex in Jaipur.

According to sources, the ED had summoned 100 locker owners on Saturday with their keys.

“ED team left Ganpati Plaza around 3 pm after they could not find anything incriminating in the lockers. However, officials stayed there for long,” sources said.

Sources said that neither ED nor Income Tax is said to have sent notice to anyone regarding enquiry into any kind of recovery in these lockers.

The search followed complaints of Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena, who alleged that Rs 500 crore and 59 kg gold is stacked in private lockers located in the underground of Ganpati Plaza.

He alleged that the unaccounted money is bribe accumulated from various scams including Jal Jeevan , DoIT and paper leak, in which ED has already launched investigations and made some arrests.

Meena had alleged that one Chhatra Pal Singh, who works as General Manager in DoIT, owns five lockers, which occupies unaccounted money and gold.

Chhatra Pal Singh, however, denied having five lockers and said that he has only one locker which he had not operated since three years.
“Since I have come to Meerut for some family function, I have sent key of the locker through my servant. There is nothing in the locker. Truth will prevail,” he said.
