Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found dead with stab wounds at his residence in Bengaluru.
Police suspect that he was murdered as a sharp weapon was probably used to attack him and detained his wife and daughter for questioning in the matter.
According to Bengaluru Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Vikas Kumar, the investigation continues with no arrests made, while the motive remains undetermined.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Om Prakash's wife is an accused in the alleged murder. Stab injuries were found on Om Prakash's stomach and neck, sources said, adding that police will decide to arrest his wife and daughter after questioning.
A native of Bihar, Om Prakash, a 1981-batch IPS officer from the Karnataka cadre, served as the DGP and Inspector General of Police (IGP) from 2015 till his retirement in 2017.
