A couple of days back, Rajasthan chief secretary Sudhansh Pant reprimanded Karauli collector Neelabh Saxena for telling lies and going on vacation in Kashmir on pretext of important work at his home town. He condemned Saxena for telling lies to secure leave.
Now he found Hanumangarh collector Kana Ram leaving station earlier than the time communicated to the chief secretary.
In a public hearing over video conference, when chief secretary turned to Hanumangarh collector Kana Ram, he found ADM responding on collector's behalf. The ADM Ummedi Lal Meena apprised Pant that collector had left for Kerala to receive national award for innovation in crop insurance scheme.
Pant said that Kana Ram officially was to leave in the evening.
“How could he leave in afternoon when he told me that he will leave in the evening. Why does Hanumangarh collector tell lies?,” Pant questioned.
He further said that one should at least speak truth.
“It's good that he is getting award. But he shouldn't have told lies to me,” he said in the public meeting.
The ‘angry' Pant also looked concerned about senior officers telling lies over trivial matters and abstaining from complying directions.
He sounded disappointment over senior officers not having night halts in villages and telling lies over small issues.
“Senior officers visit villages and come back 11'o clock at night. This is not called night halt,” he said.
He has sought information from divisional commissioners, district collectors, ADMs and SDMs about their night halts and night chaupals during the period from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025.
“Officers should stay in government buildings during night halts. Night halt is about just staying at resort in a village and coming back,” Pant said.
