A day after Vasundhara Raje reprimanded officers for not supplying drinking water to public in her constituency – Jhalrapatan, central government swung into action and has sought a report from the Rajasthan government on the drinking water crisis.
Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil wrote on social media:
Vasundhara Raje's concern over the water crisis in Jhalawar has been taken seriously. A factual report has been sought from the Rajasthan government in several areas of Jhalawar district.
“Raje wrote on X- Don't the public feel thirsty? Only you officers do. People are suffering due to drinking water crisis in summer. Officers are satisfied. Water should not be confined to fires but it should reach the lips of people. Officers are sleeping, people are crying. I won't let that happen.
Raje demands every account of Jal Jeevan Mission budget
Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje firmly rebuked officers of the Jal Jeevan Mission and the water supply department. “Prime Minister ji has sanctioned Rs 42,000 crores in Jal Jeevan Mission. Give me account of every single paisa and tell me what did you do with the amount of Jhalawar's share? Our government is giving money for the evading drinking water crisis, but the officers are not implementing the schemes properly. That is why the people of Rajasthan are distraught with thirst.”
She warned, “This is the state of affairs in April, what will happen in June-July,” she asked.
