Two days before his retirement, Nitendra Pal Singh, an RAS officer of 2010 batch, was suspended for the alleged financial irregularities of Rs 536 crore during his stint as secretary of Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), Udaipur. The suspension letter dated February 26, 2025 was issued by department of personnel on February 27, 2025 – a day before his retirement.
Nitendra Pal Singh was posted in UIT from October 2022 to September 2023. During that period, he was sent on APO and was later posted as presenting officer, department enquiry.

Singh was put on APO earlier also in April 2021 for six months when he was serving as deputy secretary in department of art culture and literature.
What is the case?
Nitendra Pal Singh, promoted from tehsildar service allegedly gave financial benefits to real estate players at the cost of loss in government revenue, which was highlighted in the audit report 2022-24.
Manna Lal Rawat, member of parliament (MP) has also raised the alleged financial irregularities at various forums and is said to have written a letter to chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma demanding a thorough probe in this Rs 536-crore scam and suspension of Nitendra Pal Singh.
According to sources, deputy town planner of UIT Udaipur Ritu Sharma was also suspended earlier in this case.
