IAS Rajeev Singh Thakur becomes advisor in Niti Aayog, no chance of returning to cadre 

, a 1995 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre has been as Advisor, NITI Aayog in the rank and pay of additional secretary by temporarily upgrading the post and extending the central deputation tenure for a period of one year beyond 03.12.2024. 

Singh has been on central deputation since November 2017. 

After completing seven years of deputation including the extended period of 2 years, he went on leave. Before going on leave, he was serving as additional secretary, department for promotion of industries and internal trade (DPIIT).

The post of advisor, Niti Aayog fell vacant after Jayant Singh, a 1993 IRTS officer was appointed as  chairman of Land Ports Authority of () a couple of days back. Singh was also temporary advisor. He is husband of Rajasthan cadre IAS officer Roli Singh, who is  on central deputation serving as additional secretary in the department of and family welfare.
