Pankaj Joshi to be chief secretary of Gujarat

The has notified that IAS Pankaj Joshi of batch 1989, who is serving as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister of the state, has been transferred and promoted as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Gujarat.

IAS Joshi will replace the outgoing chief secretary of the state, Raj Kumar, IAS, who is retiring from the Indian Administrative Service on January 31.

Who is Pankaj Joshi? 

Pankaj Joshi is originally from Nainital, Uttarakhand, and joined the Gujarat cadre of the Indian Civil Service IAS in the 1989 batch. He started as a Provincial Collector and has also served as a collector and in Surat, Gujarat.

A highly qualified technocrat with an IIT background and an M.Phil in Strategic Affairs, Pankaj Joshi has previously served in critical roles including Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, ACS Home, Finance, and Principal Secretary (Energy). Described as a non-controversial and low-profile officer, his appointment brings stability to the state's administrative leadership.
