More than four months ahead of her superannuation, IAS Rashmi Gupta has been named as the new member of the real estate regulatory body – Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Rajasthan. Gupta was due to retire in May this year.
Rashmi Gupta, a 2008 batch, IAS officer promoted from state civil services, is currently serving as divisional commissioner of Jaipur with additional charge of divisional commissioner Bharatpur. Now Gupta will have to seek voluntary retirement if she wants to join before her superannuation it will have to wait till May for taking over the new post.
RERA chairperson and the other member also appointed before retirement
Like Rashmi Gupta RERA chairperson Veenu Gupta and the other member Sudhir Kumar Sharma were also appointed before their superannuation.
While Veenu Gupta, a 1987 batch IAS officer joined few days before her superannuation in December 2023, Sudhir Sharma joined two months before his retirement in September 2024. The tenure of chairman and the two members of RERA is five years or till the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.
Sudhir Sharma is a 2006 batch IAS officer, promoted from state accounts services.
All eyes are on post of RERC chairman
One more coveted post of Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) is lying vacant. A number of retired IAS officers are in fray for that post. The post has been lying vacant since August 2024 after former IAS B N Sharma completed his term in July last year.
