The of 1990 batch IAS officer Sanjay Malhotra as Governor of RBI has let Rajasthan bureaucracy revisit the glorious past when state-cadre IAS officers attained top positions including constitutional posts.  

There are atleast five top officers of Rajasthan cadre who have made it to earn accolades from all across and are living legend of Rajasthan bureaucracy.

Naresh Chandra, a 1956 batch IAS officer from Rajasthan cadre, was the first from state bureaucracy to attain top positions. He became cabinet secretary – highest post for an IAS and then he also served as Indian Ambassador to United States. He had also been Governor Gujarat. He had also served as secretary of Rajasthan. 

DR Mehta, a 1961 batch IAS officer from Rajasthan cadre, had been at various top positions in finance ministry. He had served as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of before becoming chairman of Stock Exchange Board of India (SEBI) – the primary regulator of India's securities and commodity markets. 

At present DR Mehta is serving as full time honorary volunteer of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayta Samiti, which he had founded in 1975. The samiti has emerged as the largest organisation for the handicapped in the world, providing artificial limbs and other aids and appliances for free.

Rajiv Mehrishi, a 1978 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, is also only one from the state to become Comptroller and Auditor General of India () and vice chairman of United Nations Panel of External Auditors. Before becoming CAG, he had also served as chief secretary of Rajasthan, finance secretary of India and home secretary of India. 

Sunil Arora, a 1980 batch IAS officer, has touched the upper echelon of bureaucracy by become the chief (CEC) of India. A dynamic officer, Arora has a rare distinction of serving as secretary to two chief ministers – Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Vasundhara Raje.
