DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo assures to nab criminals of Bhiwadi case soon

Rajasthan DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo assured swift action in Bhiwadi case where a jeweller was killed during a loot by armed criminals

Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, the police chief of Rajasthan assured that gangsters involved in the killing of jewellers during the looting of a jewellery shop in Bhiwadi, will be apprehended soon.

“The incident of a Bhiwadi is challenging for police. We have deployed many teams to crack this case. We have got some clues as well. Crime (Dinesh MN) himself visited the crime scene. We have got some leads. We have taken this up as a challenge and we will crack this case,” said Sahoo, while inaugurating women barrack and all-women canteen in Police Lines in Jodhpur.

Sahoo said that such initiatives with the help of social workers help in keeping up the morale of the police. 

“Such gestures make us cops who work 24X7, feel that an important part of society is standing by us,” he said.

Ruling out any shortage of personnel in police force, Sahoo said that there is adequate force to carry out good job.

”We have few vacancies at the level of Sub Inspector and Inspector level due to delay in . But there are not many vacancies at constable level. So, we still can do a good job with this force,” he said.

Sahoo, a 1988 batch officer, who was made DGP in January this year, is considered as an honest and straight forward officer. He banks upon his strong intelligence network.

What is the Bhiwadi killing and loot case?

A group of five armed youth entered the jewellery shop in Bhiwadi at around 7.30 pm. They started looting the shop and when the owner resisted, they opened fire ended up killing him and injuring guard and owner's brother. 

An incident in the main market spread panic in the city. The onlookers said that the occupants of the shop fought with gangsters forcing them to flee. 

“No support was rendered to the shop owner. Those who tried to call police could not get through the call. Police came much later after a gangsters fled,” said an eye witness.
