Former IAS Kailash Chand Meena, who is member of Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has been given charge of RPSC chairman after Sanjay Kumar Shrotriya completed his term in July.

“Currently there are five members including Kailash Chand Meena. RPSC constitutes one chairman and seven members. All these members had been appointed by the previous Gehlot government. The government may appoint one chairman and two members,” said a senior RPSC official.

Retired IAS likely to be picked for chairman post

While the BJP government is mulling over right pick for the appointment of RPSC chairman after a spate of paper leak and other controversies maligning reputation of the commission, speculations are rife that the government may pick among former officers retired in July. These included 1989 batch former IAS officer Rajeshwar Singh, who retired as chairman and former IPS Nina Singh, also from 1989 batch, who retired as the first woman DG of CRPF. Then the government may also select Naresh Kumar Thakral, who is 2006 batch former IAS, promoted from PWD. His last stint was with finance department as secretary finance. Though his chances of getting named is bleak.

”If any of these officers get selected then they will have close to two years to service before retirement,” the RPSC official said.
