Lakshmi N, a 2019-batch IAS officer has become the latest victim of cyber fraud. Fraudsters hacked her personal phone and demanded money from her friends, relatives and contacts through WhatsApp.
The IAS officer has lodged FIR with the cyber cell and police is investigating the case.
Lakshmi N is currently posted as chief development officer (CDO) in Kanpur rural.
According to the complaint, her personal phone was hacked and demands for money were being sent to all her contacts. When her relatives and friends got suspicious over the messages, they tried to contact on her personal number. But they could not contact Lakshmi N as her phone was being controlled by hackers from remote location.
Then some of her contacts reached out to her on her official number and informed her about the hacking.
She immediately lodged FIR against the hacking and informed people to ignore demand sent from her personal number.
Who is Lakshmi N
Lakshmi N, a native of Karnataka, is an IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. She bagged 45th rank in her third attempt of the coveted UPSC examination. She had earlier worked as software engineer in Bengaluru. Before IAS, she had also cracked Indian Forest Service examination.
She is considered as a straight forward upright officer with unblemished track record.
