Lok Sabha polls to be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1; counting on June 4

ECI announces dates of Lok Sabha elections to be held on 543 seats from April 19 to June 1

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for Lok Sabha and some state Assembly elections. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said that the elections for the 18th Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases. The elections will start on April 19 and continue till June 1, 2024. The counting will be held on June4, 2024. 

Nearly 97 crore voters will be eligible to vote for 543 Lok Sabha constituencies across the country. With the announcement of dates the moral code of conduct comes into force immediately.

In phase 1 which will be held on April 19, 102 seats will go for polls while in phase 2 to be held on April 26, 89 seats will be under polls. 

In the third phase, elections will be held on 94 seats on May 7 while in the fourth phase, elections will be held on 96 seats May 13. 

In the fifth phase, elections will be held on 49 seats on May 20 while on May 25, 57 seats will go for polls in the sixth phase. 

In the seventh phase, 57 seats will go for polls on June 1 and the counting will happen on June 4, 2024. 

In elections on 25 seats will be held in two phases and will be completed by April 26 in first two phases.

In first phase, 12 seats of Rajasthan will got to polls on April 19. These include Sri Ganganagar, Churu, Bikaner, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Jaipur rural, Jaipur, Alwar, , Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa, Tonk-SawaiMadhopur.

In the second phase on April 26, 13 seats will go to polls. These include Ajmer, Nagaur, Pali, , Udaipur, , Barmer, Chittorgarh, Jalore, Bhilwara, , Kota, Jhalawar-Baran

in this elections, 1.82 crore voters will be first time voters while 21.5 crore voters are in the age bracket of 18-29 years. As per the information of ECI, 82 lakh voters are above 85 years will 2 lakh voters over 100 years of age.
