Mahabharat fame Nitish Bharadwaj complains against former IAS-wife

Actor and former BJP MP Nitish Bharadwaj has alleged his former IAS-wife Smita Bharadwaj of kidnapping their twin daughters

Nitish Bharadwaj, who played Krishna in TV serial Mahabharat, has lodged a complaint against his ex-wife officer Smita Bharadwaj, of kidnapping their twin daughters. 

Nitish Bharadwaj has alleged that his former wife is not allowing to meet his daughters despite court orders. In a written complaint to police commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra, Nitish Bharadwaj said that he doesn't have whereabouts of daughters and his former IAS-wife was not telling him anything despite repeated request.

Smita Bharadwaj is a 1992 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, currently serving as additional chief secretary to and youth welfare department with additional charge of food and civil supplies. 

Nitish Bharadwaj has alleged that his ex-wife has not let her daughters meet him since last four years. Initially his daughters were studying in Bhopal and later they were admitted to a boarding school in Ooty. Now Nitish Bharadwaj has no idea about his daughters after they were withdrawn from that school as well.  

The matter is being investigated by ACP Shalini Dixit, who said that a complaint has been received and investigation is on. Dixit said that the complaint is related to family matter and she can't say anything more in it.

Case of Nitish Bharadwaj

and former BJP MP from Jamshedpur, got married to IAS officer Smita Gate (now Bharadwaj) in 2009. It was second marriage of both of them. They had two daughters – Devyani and Shivranjani before they took divorce in 2022. According to media reports, they had filed divorce petition in 2019 and Nitish Bharadwaj claims that Smita has been preventing him to meet his daughters since last four years.

Nitish Bharadwaj had earlier said that children were the ones who suffer the most from broken marriages. 

“It's the children who suffer the most when a family breaks down. So, the onus is on the parents to ensure that there's minimum collateral damage that their children have to go through,” he had said.
