8 RPS officers to be promoted to IPS

As many as 8 officers of Police Service (RPS) have been promoted to IPS. The names of these officers have been sealed in the board meeting. It is likely that a notification in this regard will also be issued from the Union by next week.

Earlier, a meeting of the selection committee was held in Delhi. In this, chief Sudhansh Pant, ACS Home Anand Kumar and DGP UR Sahu were present along with officials of union ministry. The state government had sent names of 24 senior officers against 8 posts that fell vacant in 2023.

According to sources, the board has cleared names of 1997 batch officers – Kewalram, Lokesh Sonwal and Gordhanlal Saunkar‍iya; 1998 batch officers – Ratan Singh, Mahavir Singh Ranawat, Pyarelal Shivran, Satveer Singh and Satnam Singh.

Sonwal in, Piyush Dixit out at last moment 

In fact, among the 24 senior RPS officers whose names were sent by the government to UPSC, the name of RPS Piyush Dixit was at number 8. But with the inclusion of Lokesh Sonwal name in the revised seniority list, Dixit moved to number 9. 

Lokesh Sonwal, who was shaving probe in Ajmer monthly case, has been exonerated. 

Now name of Dixit will be considered on next board.
