4 IPS and one IAS retire this month in Rajasthan

Five top officers including four IPS and one IAS are scheduled to retire this month. They served their last working on Friday with Saturday and Sunday being holidays

Four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers – Janga Sriniwas Rao, Prashan Kumar Khamesra, Sameer Kumar Singh and Sunil Kumar Vishnoi – are retiring this month. One IAS officer – Laxman Singh Kuri – is also scheduled to superannuate this month.

Had the current DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo not given the appointment of DGP , he would have also retired this month. But now with the two-year tenure appointment as DGP Rajasthan, he would serve till January 2026. Sahoo is considered as an honest, upright and brilliant officer with utmost integrity.

Janga Sriniwas Rao, a 1990-batch IPS officer, is serving as Director General Training, Community Policing and Human Rights.

In his career spanning 34 years, Janga Sriniwas Rao has served at several key positions including Police Commissioner, IG Intelligence, superintendent of police (SP) of districts like Ajmer, Hanumangarh, Bhilwara, Jodhpur (rural), Chittorgarh and Bundi. Apart from that he had been SP of CID and Anti Terrorism Cell (ATC).

A native of , Janga Sriniwas Rao has been considered as an above average police officer. His two-year tenure as Jaipur commissioner has been action packed.

Prashan Kumar Khamesra, a 2003-batch IPS, promoted from state police service in 2013, is serving as CID (Crime Branch). He had been IG Kota and Bharatpur range in the past besides assuming charge of additional commissioner of Jaipur police. He has also held positions of SP in districts like Chittorgarh and Dungarpur in his initial days as an IPS officer. Having spent considerable time in state police service, Khamesra is regarded as a sharp officer with strong network.

Sameer Kumar Singh, a 2008 batch IPS promoted from state police service has served as Principal, Training Centre, Kishangarh. He has held several positions including SP of districts like Sawai Madhopur and Bharatpur. He has spent considerable time in Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB)  first as SP and then DIG.

Sunil Kumar Vishnoi, 2009-batch IPS, promoted from state police service, has served as DIG Crime in police headquarters. Among important posts, he has served as SP of districts like Sawai Madhopur, Baran and Bundi. He has also served in GRP and CID.

The only IAS who superannuated this month is Laxman Singh Kudi, who is a 2010-batch IAS promoted from state civil services. He served as commissioner horticulture as his last posting. Among other posts he held were collector Jhunjhunu and director fisheries after getting promoted in IAS.
