23 crore domestic tourists, 20 lakh foreigners visited Rajasthan in 2024

Rajasthan witnessed annual growth of 28% in domestic tourism and 19% surge in number of international tourists arriving  in the calendar year 2024. 

According to Rajasthan Economic Review 2024-25, the number of domestic tourists visiting Rajasthan went up to 23 crore in 2024 from 17.90 crore in 2023. 

Similarly, the number of international tourists went up to 20 in 2024 from 17 lakh in 2023.

Tourists from topped the table with 1.57 lakh Americans visiting Rajasthan followed by 1.27 lakh tourists from United Kingdom. Besides, there is significant increase in the number of tourists coming from France, Germany and Italy. 

“The number of international tourists is growing. It is more or less touching the pre Covid times. During the Covid period, the number of tourists were dropped to 4.46 lakh in 2020, 34,805 in 2021 and 3.96 lakh in 2022,” said a senior official of tourism department.

Jaipur continues to be most favoured for foreigners, Udaipur catches up

Though there is significant drop in number of international tourists arriving in Jaipur, it continues to top the table with 6.23 lakh – down from 8.72 lakh last year.

There is great surge in which witnessed more than double traffic from overseas. The number rose from 2.13 lakh to 4.83 lakh in 2024. Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Ajmer also featured in top destinations  for International tourists. 

Sikar hot favourite for domestic tourists

With religious tourism the new flavour, Sikar continues to top the chart with 2.76 crore domestic tourists visiting in the  district. Interestingly, Chittorgarh witnessed great surge in number of domestic tourists with an addition of almost one crore visitors in 2024. Other hot destinations included Ajmer, Jaisalmer and Sawai Madhopur.
